@skipzer909 The computer is unknown, and Brad and Fairly have stated it twice. He said in the video, that anything could come up, but nothing has happened yet.

  2. Pandebus

hmmm…. wonder who did the website design? IMO it’s not very… erm… good. Hope you didn’t pay all too much on the design 😉

  3. wingdemon

@BE FANCY, he said he’d have an interesting report on friday, not a W3 report. the report may have been…boring. (sorry brad!) but it was ultra-interesting. i mean and FPA console game? whou’da thunk it.

  4. Pieman

Everything is awesome! FPA is coming to console, Brad’s dreams have been fulfilled, and I should get a PS3 on Christmas! I feel so happy for you Brad!

    thanks aubrey

brad: i know this sounds like butt-kissery, but i kinda knew FPM was destined for greatness.
from the the 1st time i died by running into that spider at the bottom of the hill.

@Decroux get the salt and pepper ready then, FairlyObvious PROMISED me that she wouldn’t let Brad let FPM die, and as you state above, N died by metanet’s actions 🙁 plus Brad clearly stated that he really wants tot do W3, but that ATM, understandably, FPA is more important, because, after all, everybody needs money to come around. if all goes well Brad will be able to work on W3 from spring, and then somewhere Summer/fall 2011 I hope (expect) that W3 will be ready. I really don’t believe Fairly (hmmm, I’m sorry, can’t seem to remember your name right now, it’s midnight here 🙁 ) and Brad will let go of W3 that easily.

Sidenote: please greet your cat from me, Brad, I feel bad for her, as I think she really enjoyed being in your reports, and now she has been left out for a while… 🙁

    @Pandebus
    Ha! Fool me once…

It’s amazing what money can do to someone. You just watch. Promises mean nothing when 1. Money is involved and 2. the anonymity of the internet exists. I’ve been on the internet long enough now to know this.

But hey, just like with N, I seemed to be the only one in the world who actually gave a **** that the the PC and original fans got shafted because they got a taste of the green stuff. Sure, if I -owned- a 360 I would buy N+ or Fancy Pants Adventures for that matter, but I’m not going to go out and spend hundreds of dollars on a second rate console when I have a perfectly good computer.

Hey Brad, do me a favour, please. Tell me why you aren’t going to release it on PC? I know you haven’t confirmed or denied that FPA will be on PC but just be honest. I most likely won’t get an answer in which case I will withdraw my support for what was an amazing game series, but hey, it’s worth a shot.

  8. applewarrior

    i hope you feel better,Decroux
    be green!!

probably won’t have access to a computer for a few more weeks. so…
    peace out, internet
    good luck, Brad
    😀

I actually knew this would happen. I first played FPA World 1 on Newgrounds and I was immensely impressed by what you achieved on a flash game. Then World 2 came out and it was the best flash game I have ever played. When EA got you to do the ME flash game, I knew that there was a partnership going on. I’m happy to see its confirmed, I’m probably more psyched about this than you, Brad. I am definitely getting this off the PSN. Good luck and I hope the game turns out as good as it already looks.

  10. Brad

@Decroux: There’s a huge difference between N+ and FPA for consoles. We’ll be doing a whole ton of stuff that couldn’t be in Flash, and I still have completely creative control over everything. Taste of the green stuff? Come on, man, do you think peoples’ time isn’t worth anything? I can understand people without consoles being upset, but if it weren’t for this deal, there would be no more FPA, I would be stuck in freelance limbo, and you would get nothing.

There’s really absolutely nothing bad coming out of this deal. This was an announcement, don’t assume just because something wasn’t talked about while announcing the project to a press that had largely never heard of the series that that means it’s not going to happen.

And I wouldn’t have entered the partnership unless I had full control of the resulting game.

So let’s review: EA partnership: amazing console game by an incredible dev team with exclusive content and World 3 released later. No EA partnership: I take on freelance jobs to pay my bills and don’t have time to make another high quality FPA title any time soon.

@Decroux -Very cynical of you, very very cynical.

The fact is, if Brad were capable of selling out we probably would have never gotten married. If I were capable of pushing him to sell out he would have never married me. When he started this whole venture he was in college, now he is married and he has bills to pay. I don’t have a job because after I’m finished working on the house we live in I’m going back to school. If he didn’t have this deal he would be stuck behind a desk in some random place, I’d be the in the same position, and Fancy Pants Man would simply die. Maybe YOU would prefer that, but I wouldn’t.

No one and I mean NO ONE outside of Brad loves this game more than I do. If we felt in any way that by taking a deal we were compromising what Brad has spent so many years working on, we’d turn it down and starve.

I’ve been around from the beginning and considering Brad had always hoped to release his game to consoles I do not see it as “selling out” I see it as his ambitions coming to light. I also appreciate that he and Edmund can show all the devs out there that if you make a quality game you CAN get it out there on XBox or PS3.

btw Brad’s creations are incapable of falling short of amazing. If he felt he couldn’t do anything more with a character he’d put it away. In my mind he’s the Bill Watterson of the gaming industry.
And coming from me, that says a lot.

So Brad, since you’re here now, I was just wondering, can you tell us the similarities and the differences between between world 3 and console version? I don’t quite know if I want to buy it yet.

    • Brad

@Cameron: Well there’s the obvious, not needing to download the game, better sound, more music, no ads, controller, it’s running at 60 frames a second, achievements, new modes not really possible in Flash, includes World 1 and 2 with all the new moves and improvements, levels look better, runs better, won’t kill your computer, don’t need a super fast computer to play it smoothly…

And a few things that I can’t talk about yet that will blow everyone’s mind.

Trust me, there’s so much that y’all don’t know about yet 🙂

  12. Hams

Well its good to know that this isn’t FP3, thx for clearing that up Brad. But I want to know if it will be available for PSP.
BTW sounds like an awesome game and one of the best things about it will be achievements. I know that sounds lame but achievements give you something to work towards even when you’ve finished the story part of the game
    PEACE OUT!!!

  13. Decroux

    Well, I’m stunned.
If I thought my rant was going to go anywhere, I certainly did not expect it to be replied to by the man himself.

I apologize for what I said. It’s just that when I was watching that video I felt as though it was a Metanet repeat, which kicked me in the teeth HARD because I was a die-hard N supporter (obviously not enough to go buy a console to continue playing, but you get the gist). It’s very unwise to start commenting on something when you irrationally angry at the time.

I understand that it’s a great move for you and far be it from me to say that you are going to toss your fans out the window for some money. Fancy Pants Man clearly is a spectacular series and absolutely deserving of every cent it will get. I just don’t want to miss out on all the fun most of you will inevitably be having while I toil away on a laptop.

Again, I apologize if I have offended you or Fairly. Good luck on everything and I look forward to FPM’s future.

Now if you will excuse me, I have a Hat with a side of shame to attend to.

    Oh God, so leathery…

  14. wingdemon

@Fairly, i loved your Bill Waterson and Edmund McMillan references, Super Meatboy is truly an epic game, if brad can release for the PC and for XBLA & PSN, thats something to be happy about.

@Decroux, i get where your coming from, but try to see this from Brad’s point of things. And do your really think Brad is gonna sell out FPA?

@Brad, can you do a Q&A livestream sometime? that’d be great. like on http://www.livestream.com

  15. klimtkiller

@brad: will the game be for mac or nintendo DS? if it isn’t i can’t play the game. also in your last comment in the differences between the console and computer versions you made it feel like world 3 is the exact same as world 2 but with no achievements, ads and horrible lag (kill my computer).

  16. wallross

@Brad: You often say “New modes not possible in Flash” but I struggle to think what exactly they could be. Sure there would be more things that are easier for consoles than Flash, but 2D gameplay wise I can’t think of anything that can be done by the consoles and not by flash. So, can you actually list these things so that we know you aren’t lying to justify it.

You also mention achievements. You would have heard of the NG API (http://www.newgrounds.com/lit/flashapi) and you even implemented the Kongregate one in World 2.

    • FairlyObvious

@wallross – He explained in the forum that there isn’t a lot that he can talk about, marketing and such.
Brad has been working in flash since I’ve known him, if he says “new modes not possible in Flash,” he means it. He’s always complained about its limitations, always. Haha.

  17. peterw

so you say that youre just gonna make fpa for console now, that means we have to wait a couple of months for fpa console and then wait again for W3, KILL ME !!!!!

  18. Pieman

This is getting pretty good, way better than anything I could find on TV. I can’t wait to see the console game, will there still be trophies? How many levels can be squeezed in now that it’s on console? And I bet there’ll be like 30 pants colo- wait, this question has been asked before, but now that it’s a console game, will there be fancy designs for the pants?

  19. diego

Man this is just awesome! I just don’t know what to say!
From a game released on 2006 to an EA console game!!!
Just awesome, by the way this going to sound stupid but, will the game be realesed on Armor Games or some other flash game website?
    Cause I uhhhh… don’t have xbox live arcade X(

  20. rubenpuma

i am so psyched for this game!!!!!!!! i am more than happy to wait for world three, a console game is more than worth it!!!!!!!! this is just awesome!!!!!!!!!!! just one question, will there be a version for the psp?
    o, btw,
“stop recording!!! stop!!! stop!!! where’s the butto-“

  21. Brad

@klimtkiller: If I had it my way, FPA would be running on everything including your microwave, but alas, porting takes time and money, we we’ll just have to see how the game sells first.

@wallross: Not legally, haha. I really can’t say much except for I’m pretty sure it will be brain esplode 🙂 Trust me, holding back this stuff is killing me. Not to mention, I have an entire team helping build this game (artists and programmers, they’re not just porting everything over). And don’t underestimate the importance of an actual budget…

@Pieman: Ah, a new take on an age old question…

@ICARAX: What, that wasn’t Friday enough for you? :/

    @KCYF: What truth? 🙁

  22. peterw

wow everybody play world 1 and then watch the fpa console version video, amazing how something small can grow so big.
1 quiestion brad what inspired you to make fpm in the first place, it’s so original ?
