Pencil in Sneak Peek

Happy Easter!

Update: New build up, Snail should be working well enough, it might freeze up if you whack it around enough, I’ll take a look at that later.

Don’t worry about bugs just yet, I was trying to get the pencil in there soon as I could, and I’ve been kinda sick since launch (I think my body shut down once the game was finally out!), but, I’ll be going through it in the next few days.

Try playing the Sneak Peek at FancyPantsAdventures.com, if it still hasn’t updated yet, I gueeessssss you can play it here (but you might need to just clear your cache).

The combat is probably the most different thing between the console and Flash games, I’d like to hear what everyone things about the differences, which one feels better and all that.

Head’s still all stuffed up still, posts about the, well, game launching, coming later.

    however, you cant use it at all in the water level, even if you are on plain land, no oil. 🙁 😥

    Awesomeness!!!!!!! :mrgreen: Thank you so much Brad!
    I found a few glitches though. Whenever you stab the snail with the pencils it gets in its “squished” position it stays there shaking. When that happens, it becomes part of the background. Also, using the spin attack, you can get really high up. In the Science room I reached a part of the game that wasn’t drawn yet. Also, in the place where the snail is, you can poke the pencil through the wall. I have pictures here – http://img856.imageshack.us/g/fancypantspencilglitch1.png/
    And ICARAX is right, you can’t use the pencil in the water level at all, even on land. Another thing; in the Science room, any tricks you do with the pencil don’t count for anything.

    @davismouse: some of the hats and pencils are a bit over the top (probably because they were made by over the top games, heh not sure really 😉 ) but its not been taken too far. thats MY opinion, lol! 😀 😛 :mrgreen: 😆 :mrgreen:

    @davismouse: well, but still, you don’t have to change your outfit if you don’t want to, so I don’t think thats the thing you should me most concerned about 😉

    I really like the light saber version of the pencil! 😀 too bad it makes a normal pencil sound instead of a sort of light-saber sound, if it did that would be really cool

    Off topic: How do you change your profile picture? 😕

    As you may see, this is not KCreator78, but KCreator79… the reason for that is because wordpress wouldn’t allow me to send any messages any more for some reason, I have no idea why, but the important thing is that they did, so I had to make a new user instead.
    So that’s my new username… thanks a lot wordpress, for being so cruel to me!!

    YAY 4 PENCIL!!
    I am a pencil master now. Maybe at 40k you can add more baddies to the Sneak Peak? I’d like to pwn something else besides a spider or a snail. And please, if you won’t do that, can you add some new worlds to the sneak peak? (I’m willing to wait for 60k for all of these)

    Awesome, but I havn’t tried it out yet and I cant download FPA for console because PSN has been doing maintenance for over 12 dam hours!!! Anyway, congratz Brad

    Fixing bugs, I know I uploaded some pretty buggy combat. I’m more interested in seeing what you guys think about how the combat in the Flash game and in the console game feels compared to one another.

    Well brad, I think in the console version, as soon as i picked up the controller and started moving around I thought it was cool as. I pressed lots of buttons to see which one was the pencil but then I thought, well it must be square, so that kinda knocked my friend when he leased expected it. In the console version though, you have to hold up to wall run if you are going down and you hit a wall so when I tried to wall jump across sometimes I failed. in the flash version though it feels as if I have more control over fancy pants man, even though it is very fun to use the controller, still, the console version overpowers because there is so much content

    Well, that’s just my thought

    wow the pencil in the sneek peek feals alot diferent than on the xbox its really fun though but it is aliitle laggy when you use it

    So, now that the console version is out, are you going to be working more on the flash version, or some other project?
    The pencil combat in the sneak peek is pretty great, btw. although i agree that it does allow you to reach insane heights at the moment.

    Bug: Snail does not die when hit with the pencil, just stays in a perpetual state of being squished.

    Side note: From standing, an A powered jump is the normal aerial move, but when you do any other A powered aerial move, it defaults to the D powered move.

    @Minifig3D: Fixing the bugs in the Sneak Peek at the moment, then I’ll be working on World 3, (well, with a bit of a break in between), we’ve had some discussions about where to go from here, but I think right now we’re all just waiting to see sales figures.

    Fixing the snail bugs at this very moment, should have another build up tonight. Already fixed the infinite jumping thing, enjoy it while it lasts 😉

    WOW :mrgreen: I love the way you can do so many cool moves with the pencil, like when you combine it with pressing arrow buttons and the jump button and stuff. Yeah I also like Brad’s idea of adding in something different to the sneek peek every 10k likes we get!

    @brad: the combat is more powerful, FPM flys further in air attack, and he doesnt bounce off walls. flash + game = gliches = sticky keys = extreemly unhappy players

    @Brad When do you expect the pencil to be out for Kongregate and the other websites? Also I suggest you put the thing about adding someing every 10K until World 3 on your Facebook and Twitter because all the people that don’t check the blog will probably stop Liking and Following.

    @fuzzylogicbrain: i actually kinda like SOOME glitches. it makes the game fun! well, eventually you want them removed like they are. 😉

    nah, you just went over the wall! 🙂 once I went over the wall, went all the way down and the came back up using the ∞ jump. talk about near post-mortem recovery

    @Brad: Another thing you should update in the console version is the dialog boxes – they are wayy too small!!! Just make the bubbles and text ALOT bigger and I’ll be happy!!! 🙂

    Also… WHAT HAPPENED TO THE IDEA THAT WE WERE GONNA PLAY AS CUTIE PANTS!?!?!!!! I thought that in the game there would be a couple of levels where you play as cutie pants and whip out kabootle and swing from ledges and kill enemies!!! Can you add some levels please with cutie pants!!!

    @Brad: The fedora has always been my favorite 😀 I think some of the other hats are too much though. I don’t like it when they completely hide FPM’s hair! When his hair is sticking out the bottom, then the hats are awesome.
    And you should DEFINITELY add something new every 10k Likes and Follows :mrgreen:

    @smileylover: Haha, want to know a secret? I went through each image file and added the hair to them by hand, one by one 😉

    yeah i did the infinite wall jump you should keep that in world 3 just so people can use it as a tool…….. well and get outside the map…teehee

    Somatone did all the music, the credits music is the disco theme that was in the pirate ship disco room. But yeah, the music is awesome, they did a great job.

    You don’t wanna know how long it took to animate that, heh. Subtle movements are torture…

    No, in the Console version, if you did a air attack, you would bounce off the walls. Thus, whenever I did a air attack to get some air, I would always fail because of those walls. Damn you Secret Level in Level 4 (World 2) or something >_<

    That and also, I am loving the pencil in Sneak Peak. Seems more solid XD

    Edit 2: Whoop de doo. I found out that there’s an invisible wall after that giant building where you go down. I wanted to go to the background level or Springy Place thing….. I dunno the name XD

    wow, every glitch that has happened to me is backed up by someone else, awesome, oh and brad, the credits are awesome I had to say. gotta love that disco spider… “put ya legs in the air” 😀

    @Cacyboy: The reason you die is because there is no platform over there because brad didn’t think it was possible to get there when he made the first sneak peek… so there is kinda an invisible line above buildings like that.

    @brad: I kinda know how you feel, some people in my class ask me to send them pivot animations, some about 500 frames and some 2000 frames, my latest one has the stick-figure in a flashing background with a guitar, so I have to make the background black, change the stick figure to white (so you can see him) and his arms (I’ve got his arms in a different stick figure thing so his body can go behind the guitar and his hands go in front, all to do with the layering) then I have to make the ground white and move the stick figure up as well as the guitar (but to make the guitar different colours you have to make lots of layers) so I had to move every single layer into place then finally I press next frame. then I have to do it again but this time I have to make the background white,the stick figure black, his arms black and the ground black so it is pretty sucky, geez, I need flash. Probably the worst part is I am going to have about 100 frames of him doing that, so frustrating :(. Oh well, have to get it done sometime…

    @Crasher: I think its called springy hills… I played with three other friends on the console there in springy hills and right after the first hill and in the next valley we had an epic battle with sliding and doing the spinny attack in the air on the springs and other fancy attacks – it was sooo much fun!!! I think we had an epic fancy battle there for like 50 minutes – you guys should try it!!!

    @Brad: So did you say that you were gonna add more fancy hats, pants, and weapons??? If you are you should add some of these:
    WEAPONS: guitar(you hold it at the neck part- like smashing your guitar in guitar hero or something), sledgehammer, umbrella, bamboo staff, usb drive, flower, sock, lamp, toothbrush, HATS: cutie pants doing the piggyback thing, western cowboy style hat, viking hat, frog hat, spider hat, mouse hat,crab hat, other baddies hats…, conehead!!!, jester hat, cheese hat, propeller hat, spring hat, college graduation hat, sports types of hats…, PANTS: Just think of some more cool designs for pants and add them to the game

    Sorry if I already listed some hats, pants, or weapons that already exist in the game cuz I dont have all of them… YET!!!

    Let me know if you liked any of my ideas and will add them to the game!!! 🙂
